The DxMethod

You don’t need another opinion on your marketing. You need to know what’s actually wrong.

The DxMethod is a full investigation into why your marketing isn’t working. I spent 15 years leading growth in healthcare and health tech, at Elevance Health (aka Anthem BCBS), GoodRx, and CVS Health, so I know where the real problems hide. I find what’s actually holding it back, show you the evidence, and hand your team a ranked plan for what to fix first.

What’s actually going on

By the time people call me, they’ve usually tried a lot. Some of it worked, some didn’t, and the team can’t agree on what to do next. One person says it’s the messaging. Someone else says it’s the targeting. Another says just spend more.

They might all be a little right. But you can’t fix everything at once, and guessing wrong is expensive. The real problem, and sometimes there’s more than one, is almost never the thing everyone’s arguing about. It’s usually upstream of it, and it takes an outside read to find it.

What I actually look at

This isn’t a quick audit or a gut reaction. It’s a real investigation, and it takes a little time.

I look across every part of your marketing against the same rubric I built into the diagnostic tools on this site. Those tools are basically an AI version of how I think. This is the full version: me, in your business, talking to your team and your customers, going deeper than any tool can.

Here’s a sampling of what I look at. It’s not the whole list, and depending on your business there’s often a lot more:

  • Your positioning, and whether a stranger gets what you do
  • Who you're actually talking to, and whether the message fits them
  • Your targeting and segmentation, and whether you're reaching the right people
  • Your offer, and whether it's the thing people want
  • Your funnel and your analytics, and where people drop off
  • The path your customer actually takes
  • What your reviews and your own customers say, in their words
  • What your competitors are doing differently
  • How you measure, and whether you're tracking the right things

I’m hunting for what’s actually holding everything back.

What you get

Real deliverables your team can act on, not a slide deck that gets forgotten.

A summary of findings
What's holding your marketing back, with the evidence behind it.
Recommended actions, in priority order
What to fix first, what comes next, and why that order.
A testing plan
What to test, and what result tells you it's working.
A live walkthrough
I take you and your team through all of it, and you keep the recording.

How it works

Scoping call
We confirm it's a fit, and I learn enough about your business to scope the work.
Scope and proposal
We go over it together, so it fits what you actually need.
Intake and access
You send a few things over: access to your analytics and assets, any relevant research you already have, and we line up a couple of short conversations with you or your team. If I can talk to a few of your customers too, even better. That's where the richest feedback comes from.
The investigation
I do the work above. This is most of the engagement. We can do a check-in or two along the way if we need them.
The walkthrough
I bring you the diagnosis and the plan, walk your team through it, and answer everything.

Where I’m honest with you

Where the evidence is clear, I’ll tell you flat out what’s wrong. Where it isn’t, I won’t fake certainty. I’ll tell you what I believe and exactly what to test to know for sure. A confident answer that turns out wrong costs you more than an honest “here’s my best read, and here’s how we’ll prove it.”

I’ve spent 15 years leading marketing in healthcare and health tech, at Elevance Health (aka Anthem BCBS), GoodRx, and CVS Health, with consumer work at Macy’s and Amazon along the way. The diagnostic tools on this site are the same lens I bring to the work, just automated. They’re live and free to try.

What it costs

The DxMethod starts around $5,000 for a focused diagnostic. A full engagement is scoped to your problem.

Right now I can only take on a couple of DxMethod engagements at a time.

You have the diagnosis. Now what?

A diagnosis only matters if it gets acted on. Once you have the ranked plan, there are three ways to run it.

Your team runs it. I hand off the plan and your team takes it from there.
Your team runs it, I keep it on track. I hand off the plan and stay in to orchestrate, so the right things happen in the right order and nothing stalls.
I run it. I execute the plan myself and pull in people I trust for anything outside my strongest areas, so it's fully handled.

When I’m the one executing, here’s where I’m strongest:

  • Strategy, messaging, and positioning
  • Consumer psychology, reading why people actually do what they do
  • Email and lifecycle marketing
  • Your on-site experience and cross-selling, making the assets you already have work harder
  • LinkedIn strategy

I’m just as strong at organizing and orchestrating the whole marketing effort across everyone who needs to be involved. I do the parts I’m best at, bring in trusted people for the rest, and it’s full service when you need it to be.

Not sure how much you need? Start by talking it through.

A strategy session is one focused hour, just the two of us, for $149. It isn’t a scoping call. A scoping call is me learning your situation so I can make a recommendation. A strategy session is the strategy itself. We get into your marketing and you walk away with real direction, not a pitch.

If your marketing isn’t working and you want a clear answer on why, let’s talk.
